Why Bother With Personal Development?
Working on yourself requires energy, time, money, so why bother?
If you want more fulfilment and control of your life, investing a small part of your time into personal development can yield a tremendous return.
The reason being is that there are so many aspects of our lives that we have to deal with (finance, romance, family, friends, growth, spirituality, career, spirituality, health) so how do we excel in every area?
To do so, we need some knowledge and experience.
However, the thing is for most of us we rely on systems for knowledge but the systems doesn’t teach us all the things we need to know to thrive in this society.
The “system” does not genuinely have the interest to inform us with real knowledge. (Ex. News is used to program us.)
And plus, the majority of people stop learning when they leave the education system.
This creates a “we don’t know what we don’t know” type of situation.
This is where personal development, personal growth, self-improvement – the act of working on yourself comes in.
When we take the time to better ourselves, we start to improve, and when we improve, our lives will start to improve, because everything starts with us.
So what should we do? We should start to work harder on ourself than on our job. Because if we want to earn more we have to learn more. If we want our lives to change, we have to change. (Jim Rohn).
Okay, so I get it now, so where should we start?
The mind. Most of our upbringing, we have been conditioned to think a certain way. If you dive deep into your belief system, how many of those beliefs came from you verse from others?
To become a better version of ourselves, we have to get rid of the limiting beliefs, the fears, the conditioning that’s in subconscious mind because what blocks most of us from achieving more in life is ourselves.
In addition to improving our mindset, we can work on our skills, attitude, and personality. Within these three aspects, the list is endless, there is always something that you can work on to become a better version of yourself, which makes the journey so beautiful.
If you are not sure where to start, tap into yourself and ask “What is something you always wanted to learn? How would life look like if you lived at the edge of your comfort zone? What qualities do you want to embody?”
Once you are clear, then you can actively work on what you have decided from a book, an event, meditation, volunteering, life coaching, online course…etc
Life isn’t always easy, but by working on ourselves we are able to transform into a stronger version of ourselves to battle the challenges life throws at us.
Why bother with personal development?
By working on ourselves, we become a greater version of ourselves, and when we are at our best, we experience a higher quality of life.
Whatever you wish to manifest, wealth, peace, health, happiness, romance…etc It all can be done, we just need to stop getting in our own way and tap into the higher version of ourselves.
Working on ourselves is the best investment we can make with our time and energy because everything starts with us.
Personal development is a beautiful life long journey. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you to make a commitment to start consciously working on yourself and feel the difference in how you show up and experience this life!
